Quantum Mechanics
Quantum Mechanics
Quantum mechanics is a branch of physics that deals with the behavior of matter and energy at the quantum level, which is the smallest scale of energy and matter. Quantum physics has led to many discoveries, such as the wave-particle duality of light, the wave-particle duality of light, Heisenberg uncertainty principle.
Classical mechanics is branch of physics that
deals with the motion of macroscopic objects. Classical mechanics is
based on three laws of motion formulated by Sir Isaac Newton. The
principle of classical mechanics are used to study the motion of
planets and stars.
Classical mechanics was extremely successful theory for describing the motion of macroscopic objects such as planets, stars and machines. However, it failed to explain certain phenomena, such as the behavior of light, the behavior of the atoms and subatomic particles.
Photo Electric Effects
It is a phenomenon where electrons are emitted from a metal surface when it absorbs lights of sufficiently high frequency. The ejected electrons from metal plates moves towards positive electrode (collector) and causes current to register in ammeter.
Factors affecting Photo Electric Currents
a. Intensity of light
Intensity of light Vs Photoelectric Current |
The number of photo electrons emitted per second is directly proportional to the intensity of incident radiation.
b. Potential
Variation of photoelectric current with potential. |
If
we increase potential, photo current increases till saturation current.
The minimum negative potential given to metal plates with respect to
the collector at which the current becomes zero is stopping potential.
The maximum possible current at a given intensity and frequency is
called saturation current.
Great blog post! I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and found it to be informative and understable.the content was well-organized and easy to follow. I particularly appreciated that you expline with the help of digram.
ReplyDeleteThis topic is well researched and thorough. It was easy to understand and I got more knowledge about the quantum mechanics after reading your blog.
ReplyDeleteBrilliantly highlighted. Your contribution brought a huge grace on the lesson taught. You segregated those portions so well and refreshed the lesson learned.
ReplyDeleteThank you Durgesh...I was quite unclear about photoelectric effect and it's graph..it would be a very helpful note for me to refer
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Durgesh for highlighting us on today's lessons. Your work is highly appreciated. You have explained everything systematically which made me understand the concepts even better. I had some doubts regarding the factors affecting photo electric current but with your well explained blog, I could grab the idea and understand it so well.
ReplyDeleteGood post! The concepts were presented precisely and clearly. It was really helpful that the lesson was broken down into manageable chunks so that we could comprehend it better. This could also be used as a review for our semester-ending exam which would be really helpful.
ReplyDeleteThank you Durgesh for highlighting on today's topic. The idea presented by you was helpful for me to recollect what sir actually taught in the class. It even helped me to understand the topic more better.
ReplyDeleteThank you Durgesh for writing About today's lesson. Use of graph was a very effective method. The use of graph helped me to understand about the factors affecting photoelectric current more precisely.
ReplyDeleteGood post durgesh, well and nicely revised. It really helped me to revised this topic more conveniently as it was bit difficult for me to understand at class ,now i am able to grab some concepts from your post .Thankyou!
ReplyDeleteNice one Durgesh.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely clear blog on quantum and classical mechanics. It help me to understand why the classical mechanics failed? I was crystal clear on factors affecting photo electric currents and graphs by reading your blog. Thank you
ReplyDeleteThank you Durgesh for clarifying my doubts and for mentioning why classical mechanics failed and for mentioning about the use of classical mechanics.
ReplyDeleteVery well organised and well researched work. It helped me to understand more about the quantum and classical mechanics as well as what caused the failure of the classical mechanics. The graphical representation and the explanation was a very way to give more ideas on the topic.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Durgesh. I was a bit confused about photo-electric effects but going through these notes, really helped me to clear my doubts.
ReplyDeleteThank you Durgesh for highlighting us on today's topic.By reading this blog,it helped me understand the concept even better than what was taught in the class.
ReplyDeleteThank you Durgesh for explaining about quantum mechanics. And also explaining about why the classical mechanics failed because when sir was teaching about that topic I dozed off for a minute and couldn't catch up in the class but now I am able to relate and revise about all the topics such as photoelectric effect and factors affecting photoelectric effect and so on.
ReplyDeleteThabk you Durgesh for your blog.
ReplyDeleteIt was nicely done however it would have been better if you could have explained why classical mechanics failed
Great job Durgesh, because you explain all the contain in sequence. After reading your post, now i am bit confident to explain or know the difference between the classical mechanics and quantum mechanics. Moreover, I came to know about their failure and success.
ReplyDeleteGreat explanation. Though I missed today's lesson, I got glimpse of the topic
ReplyDeleteThank you sharing your explicit knowledge on today's lesson. It really helped me to gain some more knowledge with your simple explanations and helped to revisit the lessons learnt.
ReplyDeleteThis blog is indeed a work of art, well explained on classical and quantum mechanics, photoelectric and factors affecting photoelectric effect. It was of great help for me to revise and revisit on what was taught in class. Thank you Durgesh for your excellent blog.
ReplyDeleteYou have really brought sum of the necessary points to be remembered on quantum mechanics, classical mechanics, photoelectric effects and 2 impactful things on it. Alot of appreciation la.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing your knowledge about it. I have learnt many things about quantum mechanics just by reading your blog.
